Monarch Landing is Canada's Premier hybridizer of Agapanthus, Hibiscus and Kniphofia and is dedicated to creating beautiful and distinctive plants which are rigorously selected for consistency and vigour under zone 6 garden conditions. Our plant breeding program began with the African-Mediterranean species, Agapanthus and Kniphofia, or red-hot poker. We have recently begun a new hybridizing program for the very popular Hibiscus. We have a UNIQUE and EXCLUSIVE selection of plants which have been part of our hybridizing program for a number of years. As a specialty breeder, we offer new and interesting plants for those who love beauty in their gardens. Our collection is unique as we hybridize and grow from seed here at our nursery. The plant availability is often limited. Please take some time to look at the listings and photographs. We are delighted that we can pursue these endeavours while restoring and supporting the native biozone in this important natural area. We are fortunate in being able to engage in a very worthwhile pursuit that has minimal impact on the species around us. Our cultivated hybrids are grown, where possible, within a meadow environment. This allows for a wide variety of native species to be observed close at hand while enjoying horticultural treasures and a beautiful lakeside view.
